Your body’s magnesium level is very important for overall health, but we do not hear about this mineral on a regular basis.  Magnesium is used in over 500 functions in the body and levels are crucial for brain, cardiac and muscle function.  It is a vital mineral and without it we would not produce energy, our muscles would be in permanent state of contraction, manages cholesterol and promotes bone health.  Sixty-eight percent of Americans do not consume the minimum daily requirement.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE WARNING SIGNS OF MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY:  

-Ringing in the ears or hearing loss:  Known as tinnitus, a constant, high-pitched ringing in your ears is a common symptom of magnesium deficiency.  Normal levels of magnesium will help prevent the formation of free radicals that can lead to hearing loss.

-Muscle cramps or tremors:  Your muscles function because of magnesium; without it, your body would be in a state of convulsion and your muscles would be unable to relax.  Low magnesium can cause facial tics and twitching of the feet while trying to sleep.

-Depression:  There is a long established link between low levels of magnesium and depression.  The benefit is that magnesium has no side effects like chemical pharmaceutical drugs.

-Abnormal heart function:  Low levels of magnesium can induce a condition known as cardiac arrhythmia.

-Kidney stones:  Adequate magnesium prevents the formation of kidney stones by preventing the calcium from binding with oxalate.
